Vienna, Austria (March 05, 2021) — The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) has engaged advisory on sustainability affairs denkstatt, as part of a consortium of prominent organizations in climate, outreach and engagement who will work in close collaboration with the Commission to deliver the European Climate Pact, an initiative launched as part of the European Green Deal.
The newly formed partnership, named “Promitto” (or “I pledge” in Latin), is led by ICF and includes denkstatt, CDP Europe, Count Us In, Friends of Europe, Ifok, IASS, LOW, Presencing Institute and Ramboll. These partners will provide strategic design, operations and secretariat services to DG CLIMA to help raise awareness for the Pact; build an EU-wide understanding about climate change; encourage citizens and organizations to pledge to concrete climate and environmental actions; and provide spaces and opportunities for co-creation, learning and networking. These services will capitalize on the latest digital tools and technologies for engagement.
denkstatt will coordinate the implementation of the European Climate Pact in Eastern Europe by running one of the Pact’s Regional Coordination Centers. The group will be responsible for the Outreach & Engagement Strategy implementation and specific activities in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic and Slovenia.
Launched in December 2020, the European Climate Pact is an EU-wide initiative inviting people, communities and organizations to participate in climate action and build a greener Europe. Its goal is to help mobilize and support a social movement of millions of people across the EU to get involved in the green transition, inspire each other, and develop and scale up solutions.
“We are proud to be part of Promitto and take this partnership as a great opportunity to contribute in addressing one of the significant challenges facing the modern generation. Led by the belief that no action is too small, the European Commission wants to reach EU citizens from all walks of life. We are glad to support with our expertise in climate change topic and encourage networks, organisations, and citizens to take a step forward and participate with real climate action. Everyone has a role to play in order to make the Climate Pact successful” said Christian Plas, CEO and founder of denkstatt group.
