The CCF describes the total amount of greenhouse gases produced directly and indirectly through a company’s operations and activities. It is the ideal tool to detect inefficiencies, communicate your improvement efforts, set targets and optimize the climate performance of your organisation.
The PCF expresses the total amount of greenhouse gases caused directly and indirectly by a product over its life cycle, in CO2-eq. It is a measure of the product’s climate performance and serves as great communication tool, but also as a basis for improvements.
An LCA identifies the total environmental impacts caused by a product, directly and indirectly, over its entire life cycle, expressing them in impact categories such as the Eutrophication Potential and Photochemical Oxidant Creation Potential. An LCA looks beyond a carbon footprint and can help you to better understand the impact your specific product may be having on the environment, from the global down to the local level. Based on an LCA we can develop an Environmental Product Declaration to communicate the results in a structured format.
A water footprint is a measure of your appropriation of fresh water in volumes of water consumed and/or polluted. The water footprint includes the water you use directly (e.g. from a tap) and indirectly (e.g. for food production, energy generation). Water is an often-overlooked critical resource in many industries, and evaluating your water footprint is a crucial first step in assessing your risks and opportunities.
Identifies the issues you need to most urgently address and focus your efforts on.
How do you engage with your stakeholders? How can you find out what your customers, suppliers, employees and neighbours expect or want of you, and what they don’t want? How can you harness your stakeholders’ knowledge to create added value for everyone with a stake in your business? We offer the support you need in implementing a stakeholder management system, including help with defining issues and objectives, and designing the process of communication with the relevant constituencies.
Environmental product declarations and eco-labels help customers and clients in their decision making, as the environmental performance becomes a critical factor in the comparison of Environmental Product Declarations are especially widespread in the buildings sector where many tenders require the submission of environmental information in this standardized format.
The standard Profit & Loss Account just got bigger and better. Each company has specific impacts on natural and social capital, which remain hidden to investors and shareholders. By integrating these impacts into the Profit & Loss Account, we are able to quantify the net impact of the company on society as a whole. This includes the value the company generates beyond mere profit, helps assess hidden risks & opportunities and allows to track and communicate progress.
Science Based Targets are an initiative by CDP, WIR, UN Global Compact und WWF, aiming to define corporate sustainability goals that are in line with the much publicised +2°C warming target, agreed in the Paris Climate Agreement. We support you in the development and submission of suitable corporate sustainability goals.
We apply Life Cycle Costing to support the sales process of our clients, by comparing initial investment to the expected savings over the life cycle, both from an economic and environmental point of view. To this end we develop tailored tools that enable a comparison across product models and a flexible integration of product features.

True Cost Accounting (TCA) makes agriculture’s external costs and benefits visible and comparable. We calculate the positive and negative externalities per crop on an agricultural level. In doing so, we go one step further than calculating carbon footprints – the TCA calculation also takes into account aspects such as water, soil erosion & fertility, animal husbandry and biodiversity. We use primary data from farms for our calculations, supplemented by reference data as necessary.

Our Stories

  • For ARA, we developed a customized tool and apply it periodically to calculate the CO2 savings from its collection and recycling activities.
  • We helped ALPLA understand and quantify the environmental benefits of its recycling activities and provided them with a customized tool.
  • For the Global Silicones Council we completed a study on the PCF of silicones, siloxanes and silane products, helping them communicate the abatement benefits resulting from the use of silicone and silane products over alternative products.

  • For edana, the international association serving the nonwovens and related industries, denkstatt calculated the environmental, social and economic benefits of fleece products, the results of which were extensively used in communication.
  • We helped DSM with its leadership campaign for food additives by calculating the environmental, social and economic benefits of their products.
  • We supported Barry Callebaut by calculating the Environmental Footprint of chocolate, using synergies to complement the Product Carbon Footprint calculation with a Corporate Carbon Footprint for reporting.
  • We helped UHU attain the Austrian Ecolabel ‘Österreichische Umweltzeichen’ and calculated the PCF of their ReNature line, which they used extensively in marketing.
  • We enabled willhaben (an internet sales portal) to communicate the environmental benefit of the second hand products traded through its site.
  • We helped The Coca-Cola Company assess its water sustainability and optimize its global water efficiency.
  • We supported OMV in drawing up its water policy and developing a water strategy, looking at water-related risks and opportunities, supporting data management and deriving relevant KPIs.

The results of the LCA assessment are used for external communication to both consumers and business through the elaboration of an Environmental product declaration (EPD), following the requirements of ISO 14025 and EN 15804.
  • For ETEM Bulgaria we elaborated an Environmental product declaration (EPD) of aluminum profiles, which was published by The International EPD System. The process EPD elaboration process includes: life-cycle assessment (LCA) following the requirements of ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, EPD and background report elaboration and organization of the registration and verification process.
