In December 2015, denkstatt received the mandate to support one of Europe’s largest retail and tourism companies, the Austrian based REWE International AG, subsidiary of Germany-based REWE Group, in the implementation of an ISO 50001 Energy Management System (EnMS).
The REWE International AG sees the implementation of the ISO 50001 as an important contribution to the fulfillment of its Strategic Energy Goals. The project is also in full alignment with the “Energy, Climate and Environment” pillar of the REWE International AG Sustainability Agenda.
After the successful implementation of the ISO 50001 System in Austria – involving the retailers BILLA, MERKUR, PENNY, BIPA and ADEG -, the REWE International AG decided to extend this project to its operations in Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania and Romania.
Implementing the ISO 50001 has several strategic benefits. It will enable the REWE International AG to:
- efficiently fulfill its legal obligations resulting from the EU Energy Efficiency Directive;
- save significant amounts of energy and energy costs;
- reduce its operational costs due to highly standardized processes;
- establish an active and genuine energy efficiency culture.
denkstatt provides consulting and project management services to all involved organizations, either through local denkstatt consultants (in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia) or carefully selected consultant partners (TES in Lithuania and iq consulting in Croatia).
